Our First Intentional Shop Vacation!

Since the day we have opened in October of 2019, I / We have gone full stop with OMJ. We have always said yes to orders, continued to answer emails and messages during the evenings, early mornings and weekends. We took last minute orders. Said yes to new pop-up opportunities. And continued to grow OMJ to what it is today. Oofta, what a journey!

Running a small business is truly 24-7 and I have only, up until 2025 put boundaries on my business to allow myself and my family more free time to not be distracted with orders and messages! I added business hours to the shop which has allowed me to not be on my phone through the evenings and weekends and to focus just on completing open orders and enjoy more family time without distractions! This has been a difficult transition as I am a bit of an OMJ work-aholic but VERY needed! 

We took our first BIG BREAK from the business this summer when I put the shop on vacation mode! We traveled off island to the states this summer for over a month and enjoyed some quality family and friends time in the States! We enjoyed a Minnesota / Wisconsin, full Midwest summer!

It was the time off from the business and life that I really needed to recharge and come back with new ideas and motivation to keep going! 

In the past - almost 6 years - of OMJ, I have learned that as a small business owner its a beautiful advantage to running my business how and when and if I want. Sometimes I forget that I am the boss and I get to make all the decisions; including the times when I work! Balance is important! As a stay at home wife and mom, homeschool mom, girl scout leader, and ALL the other tasks that I have added to my to-do list besides OMJ, its important for me to schedule my time wisely! And to definitely take more breaks to enjoy life!
